Do you need to be ‘more strategic?’
When you step into a senior role, there’s an expectation that you’ll be ‘more strategic’ – but who teaches you how to do that?
It’s not just about ‘knowing’ what strategy looks like – it’s carving out the time to ‘be strategic’, to ‘think strategically’ and ‘lead strategically’.
It’s being able to resist getting sucked into the operational (which, let’s face it, is your comfort zone, and you’re really good at it!).
And honestly, you can’t do ‘strategic’ when you’re in back-to-back meetings all day because your executive brain won’t do its best work when you’re tired.
When you’re tired it’s harder to regulate your emotions, to make good decisions or think well. Everything takes way longer than it needs to.
So what happens then?
You appear less leaderlike than you’d like.
You’re on the back foot and scattered.
You’re not the cool, calm, collected version of you.
You’re busy being busy but not achieving as much as you’d like.
Sound familiar?
You are not alone.
And you can 100% change all of this.
The question is – do you believe you can?
To your success, always.
P.S. You can read all the books, do all the courses, listen to all of the podcasts that tell you ‘how’. But you’ll only get so far if your thoughts get in the way. The good news? You get to choose your thoughts.
